RemMedy
Core feature

A medication reminder you can't miss.

Most reminder apps fail in three ways: they demand an account, upload data to a cloud, and quietly fail to fire. RemMedy is different.

Why medication apps often frustrate

Many popular medication apps require an account, upload data to the cloud, and bundle third-party tracking SDKs. On top of that, Android vendors (Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus) apply aggressive battery optimization that can silently suppress reminders.

RemMedy addresses both: the app stores everything locally (Room database, no network) and schedules reminders through Android's solid alarm primitives – independent from Google services.

How a RemMedy reminder works

  • Create a plan: med, dose, time, cadence – in under a minute.
  • Alarm: sound and/or vibration at the scheduled time.
  • Confirm: taken, skipped, or later – one tap.
  • Review: daily/weekly overview shows what's open and done.

Who it's built for

  • People on multiple meds who want an overview that doesn't feel medical.
  • Caregivers who need a clean plan.
  • Anyone who refuses to create an account to track a pill.

Which cadences RemMedy supports

Not every medication fits "three times a day at the same time". RemMedy covers the patterns that actually show up in real treatment plans:

  • Daily with fixed times (Morning, Noon, Evening, Night – or custom slots).
  • Every X days – e.g. "every other day" or "every three days".
  • Specific weekdays – e.g. methotrexate only on Tuesdays.
  • Weekly on a fixed weekday.
  • Monthly on a specific day – useful for depot injections.

Reliability on Xiaomi, Samsung & co.

On many Android phones, aggressive battery optimization suspends background work – and that can cause silent reminders. RemMedy walks you through the required permissions on first launch and checks continuously whether battery optimization is still active; if so, the Today tab shows a warning.

  1. Allow notifications (onboarding).
  2. Allow "Exact alarms" in system settings (onboarding).
  3. Disable battery optimization for RemMedy – the app links to vendor-specific support articles (Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus) because each vendor hides the switch in a different menu.

After that, every reminder fires on time – in standby, in airplane mode, and without Google services. If you want to verify, Settings has a "Test reminder" that fires after 10 seconds.

What the notification can do

Reminders appear on the lock screen with direct actions – no need to open the app:

  • Taken – mark the dose as taken.
  • Postpone – 15, 30, 60 minutes or a custom value (Premium).
  • Skip – logged in history.

For critical doses, Premium adds "Persistent reminders": the alarm repeats at a configurable interval until you confirm – useful for cardiovascular meds where missing a dose has consequences.
